It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently. -Warren Buffet
If more companies — specifically online sportsbooks and casinos — followed this advice, betting online would be much more fun…and not as stressful.
I would wager that BetOnline wishes that they did. They have made decisions a couple of years back that is likely cost them thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of dollars, due to lost business from poor PR.
We’ll be sharing some cases of those with you in our inspection. Because while we wholeheartedly recommend BetOnline to our customers — and feel that now they are a trusted and legit gaming company — we believe you have a right to know the entire story before opting to play with here.

First Things First: What Did BetOnline Do Exactly?
What just did BetOnline do to create so many people mad?
We believe a better question is this: what did not they do?
BetOnline’s poor decisions spans the spectrum of shady behavior, ranging from telling likes to withholding money to having shoddy security.
There are loads of examples we can show you. However, has already done the work for us. They discovered several examples, which you can find for yourself in their BetOnline review.
Here’s our TL;DR version:
BetOnline Told a Fib
When BetOnline first introduced their poker merchandise, they lied about what system it was on. They first claimed to be on the Hero Poker Network, even though they were really on the Action Poker Network. There were also stories about how they were on the Chico Poker Network, but then were kicked off.
Later reports (from BetOnline) indicated that things were nice and fixed, and that BetOnline had been (and still is) about the Chico Poker Network.
Odd thing to enjoy, eh? (Although we might lie also if we were on a shoddy network like Action.)
Everyone agrees that BetOnline lying was a stupid move and a lousy way to advertise a new item. It doesn’t instill confidence. And it makes you wonderwhy would they lie about something so trivial in the first location?
$60,000 Confiscated for No Reason
There have already been many, MANY reports about BetOnline confiscating money out of customers. The reasoning was nearly always because the customer supposedly cheated, although no evidence was provided from BetOnline (from the cases we’ve read).
One case that caught our attention was of a pro who had $60,000+ confiscated because BetOnline said he cheated. They refused to send him his hands, but did offer to send him the hand histories that showed him jobless (for evidence ).
He never got them though. What he did get was empty promises about the way they had been on the road, and also the runaround when they never showed up. They told him they could not send him the hand histories because the files were too large.
(Anybody who understands anything about online poker and hand histories — let alone about downloading files to your computer — understands what a crock that is. And, why would not you send evidence someone cheated in case you do not have anything to hide?)
Eventually Sportsbook Review (SBR) got involved and assisted the player get his money back. His final update mentions being alleviated about the way it worked out for him, but also said the same thing happened to his buddy.
Chip Dumping $50 Means You Had BetOnline $30,000+
In this case the player did do something wrong — he chip-dumped to his friend. But here is the kicker:
He also chip-dumped to his friend at a HEADS UP table where nobody else would be hurt. He did it so his buddy might have an extra $50 to play at BetOnline.
The funny part is they were playing from the exact same house at the moment. Most sites would not even let two individuals from the exact same IP address sit down at the exact same table but BetOnline did.
The person had his account suspended (far after the fact, whereas most websites would’ve captured it much earlier ), which no disputes or thinks was a wrong move on BetOnline’s part. What’s though, is how they needed to also take his 37,000 he earned since that episode.
Forum members suggested that many legit sites would not have allowed two individuals from the exact same IP to sit at the same table. And, if they did, as soon as they guessed chip dumping had happened, the player’s account would come under review. He would never have the chance to earn the $37,000.
But now that he did, BetOnline desired it. But, technically, the cash should go to whomever was hurt by this participant’s activities (which was no one). So it is absurd BetOnline believes they need to be able to retain it.
BetOnline Knows Your Own Passwords
The previous example we wish to talk about is an instance where a BetOnline rep outed the way the staff knew their customer’s passwords and login amounts. You can see the live chat log in here.
The original poster has a fantastic point. If everyone in the company has access to your login information, what’s stopping them from running a VPN, logging into accounts and accepting your money?
The BetOnline rep did not have a good answer, just a”ha ha ok sir.”
Scary stuff. Scroll down the forum thread and you’re going to see more examples. It is ridiculous.
What is even more ridiculous is how these instances are a drop in the bucket compared to the sheer number of (similar) complaints . A quick Google search for”BetOnline scams” will keep you busy.
Then BetOnline Does Something Funny: Why They Acquire
During the exact same time BetOnline was fighting, was struggling to. They were struggling to cover their clients.
Thent a couple of months later a story broke — BetOnline obtained
The crazy part was not so much the purchase, it was the simple fact that BetOnline also consented to be on the hook for all the current and previous payouts. Even after all of their stingy-like shenanigans.
An excerpt from SBR:
Most of all, the new investment group is dedicated for winners compensated in a more expedited manner.
“The new shareholders unconditionally guarantee future and past payouts from,” the rep stated. “But since there’s a sizeable backlog of pending payouts, they have to be run through different fraud checks, fulfilled and guaranteed. When the backlog is finished, customers will experience drastically enhanced payouts thanks in part to updated payment options, such as same day choices.”
No one knows exactly how much BetOnline needed to make in previous payments. In reality, BetOnline was reportedly”shocked” to find more than $1.5 million in obligations that was not reported from the prior direction. I think it’d be safe to assume that the previous debts exceeded $1.5 million — and seemingly BetOnline has paid off it.
What Does That Mean for BetOnline in 2019? What Does That Mean for You?
Honestly, we’ve had a hard time finding anything negative to report about BetOnline from within the last year or so.
There are a few complaints; ordinary stuff all companies face that we will address later on in our review once it is logical. Nonetheless, it looks to us like the majority of BetOnline’s issues are over.
They even have satisfied customers, if you’re able to believe it.
Now, what exactly does this mean to you? Should you forget and forgive? Are they secure enough for you to join, make a deposit and play? We will be honest — there’s no way we would have played at BetOnline back in 2011-2012 if we had heard or known about any of the reports above. No one in their right mind could. You’d be safer light your cash on fire.
And we don’t want to downplay the mistakes they have made. Lying, making baseless accusations, withholding funds and insecure applications is not to be dismissed.
But as buying and incorporating new management to manage operations, things have improved drastically. So much so we’re comfortable now recommending them to our subscribers.
And it’s not only us. If you look at other BetOnline reviews, then you’ll see similar thought processes. Typically the reviewers first condemned them for their activities (in 2011-2012) and advocated NOT playing with there, only to get a change of heart once they saw just how much BetOnline altered.
So, here’s where we stand on the matter —
BetOnline has made mistakes and is far from an ideal sportsbook, poker room or casino. They had and continue to have their shortcomings, the latest of which we highlight in our review under.
But, as best as we could tell, they’ve righted their wrongs and continue to improve on what they offer players. So we feel secure having accounts here.
It’s your responsibility to decide if you are feeling the same way.
2019 Main Review of BetOnline
With their past from the way, let’s jump into what’s important today — and that’s what BetOnline offers in terms of banking, betting options and promotions.
Deposit and Cash Out Options, Fees and Time Frames
BetOnline delivers a solid selection of banking options. But you’ll want to remember that what is available to you will probably be determined by where you live.
Let us start with their deposit choices.
Deposit Options
Here are the payment procedures BetOnline accepts and the min/max limitations for each:
Visa (Person to Person)
$50/$700 Visa
$50/$5,000 MasterCard
Master Card
$50/$5,000 Person2Person
Person to Person
$50/$900 — BetOnline covers some penalties over $300. Money Orders
Money Orders
$300/$9,000 Bitcoin
$20/$3,500 Skrill
$10/no max Neteller
$10/no Maximum Book to Book
Book to Book
$500/no max Bank Wire
Bank Wire
$1,000/no maximum Check
Check $1,500/$24,900 Diner’s Club
Diners Club
$50/$1,000 JCB
The biggest complaint about deposits would be their 6 percent fees for debit and credit cards. They’re one of the only sites which charge for (credit/debit card) deposits. Bovada’s among those other kinds, charging 4.9 percent.
Cash Outs
When you’re ready to cash out your winnings, then you can utilize:
Person to Person
$50/$500 — Can take 12-36 hours. Prices will run $26-$101. Bank Wire
Bank Wire
$500/$24,900 — May take up to 10 days. Prices will run $45-$75. ATM
ATM Only Card
$100/$2,500. Check By Mail
Check by Mail, Courier or Express
$500/$2,500 — Depending on which option you pick, this will take 7-30 days and will cost you $25-$50 NOT INCLUDING the fees that your bank may charge. Bitcoin
$20/$5,000 — Will cost you 2% (of the total). Skrill
$25/$9,900 — Requires around 36 hours. Only 3 requests allowed a week. Book to Book
Book to Book
$500/$15,000 — Transfers are completed within 24 hours. Neteller
$25/$9,900 — Takes around 36 hours and will cost you $20. Just 3 payouts allowed a week.
What I don’t like is how you’ll pay a fee for every banking option. Even bitcoin, which is usually free at most sportsbooks and casinos. But here you are going to cover a 2% commission.
That said, I have seen firsthand testimonials from customers who say they have received payments within 10 days, bank transfers over 3 days and bank wires in 2-3 days. This is quickly considering they are from the US market.
BetOnline says nothing about it on their site, but I’ve seen reports which suggest BetOnline gives you a $50 credit monthly if you place in your request on a Friday. Oftentimes this won’t cover the whole fee, but it’s better than nothing.
BetOnline’s Products: What Can You Bet On or Play?
BetOnline is an”all in one” business. That means you can bet on sports, play poker and casino games.
Their longest standing, and likely most popular product, is their sportsbook. So let’s start there.
Bet on Sports, Horses and Financials
BetOnline offers action on sports, horses and financing.
Within their sportsbook they more or less cover the most popular sports in the US. Included in these are:
Automobile racing
Football Golf
Martial arts
Football Tennis
You can also bet on stocks and prop bets on these markets:
Canadian Football Cycling
Formula One
Professional Football
College Football
Pro Baseball
Pro Basketball
College Basketball
Women’s Pro Basketball (WNBA)
Soccer One option they’ve added recently is eSports. It’s no surprise really, given how quickly the industry is growing. Every bookmaker is jumping on the bandwagon and offering odds on all the greatest tournaments and leagues.
BetOnline is, also, though it appears like they’re only dipping their toe in the water to check the temperature.
I say that because — as of right now — that they only have moneyline odds for a single match-up / league. Compare this to Bovada who is covering 5+ games across about 10+ leagues/tournaments.
It is a big difference. I mean, who’d you rather go to for eSports betting?
That being said, I think that it’s a good idea to provide BetOnline the benefit of the doubt…for now. It’s possible they are still attempting to find their bearings in this developing market. Perhaps they have plans to enlarge their eSports options in the near future.
What they do have going for them is their chances on the match-up I am comparing to Bovada. They are offering marginally better pricing for the exact same exact match.
There is no way to tell if that’s always going to be the case, nor can it matter whether they never expand this section of their sportsbook.
However, it’s reason enough to keep tabs on them.
They offer live gambling too. These options change constantly, of course, to coincide with what games or events are moving on. When I last looked they had lines for football, tennis and baseball. You can even keep track of a couple games concurrently utilizing their multi-event tab and program for future games with their live betting calendar.
1 thing they are known for are the higher-than-average betting limits. These vary from $1 to $25,000. Most markets will max out between $1,000 to $3,000. But it just depends. It is also possible to raise your wagering amounts by telephoning their Player Services.
Their sportsbook also runs a fair variety of promotions, and far more than you will see in their racebook and financials section combined. Some of the better options include:
50% Welcome Bonus — Get a 50% match on your initial deposit up to $2,500.50percent Kickoff Reload — Get a 50% reload bonus up to $1,000. Live Bet Free Play — Get a $25 free play. This is less or more insurance — create a wager and if you lose, they’ll reimburse you around $25.
Beyond that you’ll see a list of races in their page. Each listing tells you the number of open races you’ll find, which should you click on it is going to expand to reveal the races, horses, jockeys and odds.
If you’re unfamiliar with their website or horse gambling, a fantastic section to search through is their racebook information tab in their navigation. Here you’ll find advice on:
Their track limitations. This lets you know the maximum you can bet per race.Payoff chances. Find out how much you will make if your wager (s) win.Their principles and the kinds of bets you can make.Horse betting hints, FAQs and phrases (in case you don’t understand what a word or term means).
It is a fantastic section if you’re new to horse gambling.
And that is about it. This section is far more compact than their sportsbook.
That said, their racebook does have a few offers also, though nowhere near the quality or volume their sportsbook offers.
Here are some of their offers:
Track Rebate — Get a 7% rebate on your bets daily without a min quantity or caps on how much you can earn. $25 Risk Free Bet — Create a wager for the very first time from the racebook. If you shed BetOnline will refund you around $25.
Last up is that their financials section. Here it is possible to wager on currencies, indices and commodities. Your gambling options include signature, array, turbo and one touch. The assets/markets it is possible to bet on will depend on your wager kind.
This segment looks to be an afterthought. It certainly will not get the attention or marketing BetOnline’s other sections do.
Their poker room is among the most popular options for Americans. They’re a part of this Chico Poker Network, who’s 13th in total traffic rankings, but is 3rd for US poker websites. When I last checked they had about 2,100 players on their website.
In 2016 BetOnline performed a much-needed software update. Previously they had several complaints regarding the quality of their software. This included complaints about fuzzy graphics, bad sound and animation quality.
But following their update we’ve seen suggestions they may have a few of the best software in the US marketplace.
From worst to best in one upgrade? That may be pushing it. But in line with the pictures I’ve seen, their applications DOES look better.
However, there are still a few places BetOnline can enhance.
At this time they have a download for PC and Macs. However, they don’t have some options for cellular players, which we think is a no-brainer in this day and age. Additionally they only offer holdem, omaha and 7-card stud. It’d be nice to see more game options.
Overall, however, it is nice to see they are making advancements and are becoming more competitive with what other top tier US poker websites offer.
Speaking of that, a Number of their poker offers or promotions include:
Welcome Bonus — They will match your deposit 100% up to a max of $2,500. They pay out this to you 5 at a time. You’ll have 60 days to clean the offer. $50,000 GTD — They’re running a $50,000 warranty for $99. $90,000 Guaranteed — BetOnline promises more than $90,000 in championship prize pools each and every weekend.
They have a few leaderboard and cash race challenges, too.
And it is not just a”bonus,” but the games here must be softer due to the US traffic and the crossover visitors from their sportsbook or casino. Earning money from their poker tables should be easier here compared to other poker (only) sites.
Casino and Skill Games
Here you will find a great deal of game choices which range from table games to slots to video poker and skill games. Their games come from both Rival Gambling and BetSoft software, each of which are known for creating topnotch games. Here is the way their games breakdown:

PHONE: 1-888-426-3661
FAX: 1-800-453-0804
LIVE CHAT (for actual money accounts only)
1 thing to point out here are the reports I have seen about how BetOnline’s support is unfriendly.
1 example came out of a poker player turned website reviewer. He shared his experience, which was one of the worst I’ve heard ever, let alone heard about BetOnline.
Here’s an excerpt in Gaming the Odds:
Since BetOnline’s poker software isn’t high quality, I expected them to shine at customer service. How else can you explain the prevalence of their poker room?
Turns out I was wrong, big-time. In reality, through their live chat service (and I just need to mention it in this BetOnline review), I had the worst customer service experience in my entire life up to now.
Following the live chat session started, I needed to wait for a couple of minutes until the customer support person bothered to answer, not just entirely ignoring my question but asking for my username and password as well. Can you feel comfortable entering your password and username to some live chat box? I sure didn’t.
I explained that I don’t want to input that information to a chat area and, what’s more, the question demands no such advice since it had been about generally. I had to wait ten minutes for”help” (I use that word loosely ), while getting”Thanks for waiting. I will be with you in only a moment…” every now and then.
That said, I’ve also heard the opposite. A reviewer that actively plays on BetOnline says they offer excellent customer services. In addition, he says that your very best choice is to take advantage of the live chat (only available to account holders).
Their experiences are polar opposites. This suggests to people that BetOnline may have inconsistencies with the way they handle customer support…an
